I used to panic a little when adults asked me what I wanted to be when I grow up.
Honestly speaking, I didn’t know.
I was too clueless to care as a child. When I finally became an adult proper, the fear of picking my own path was so intense, it was simply easier to listen to well-meaning advice from well-meaning older people who seemed to ace at this adulting business.
But you know what they say about youth. We were just two frivolous young(ish) people in our early twenties.
“It would be fun,” we thought.
The side hustle grew, we made it our full time deal, and adopted the same naive optimism that one day, just one day, we will have our own little fashion conglomerate.
This is our 15th year in the business.
We will probably never be the conglomerate we thought we would be.
But the journey hasn’t been in vain.
I would like to think that we learnt a lot about who we are as people, as a business and the impact we can have on people around us.
We think a lot about how our clothes make you feel, and the preciousness of the bond we now share, because you allowed us to dress you for your everyday occasions.
We exist in parts of your lives and share in your cherished moments, in ways I never thought we would be able to.
The lace dress you were wearing when you got proposed to, the blazer you reach for every single time you needed to rock it at a meeting, the printed top that you feel extra lucky in, because on days when you wear it, transfer train times just seem a little more manageable on the long journey home.
Over the years, we realize that the intrinsic worth in our work lies in the gathering of a community of like minded individuals: people who enjoy the looks we put out, people who get excited over the same fabric details, people who respond positively to our ideals of dressing up, people who share the same values.
People like you.
So thank you for being our tribe. Thank you for sticking around and validating our work.
